Born and raised in Aichi Prefecture, he won the 1994 Japan Junior Championships while in his second year at Tokyo Gakuen Urayasu High School in Chiba.

He continued to win titles during his time at Senshu University, and represented Japan at the 1998 Asian Games.
He won gold medals in both the individual and team events.

He turned professional in 2000 and earned his first seed in 2001. In 2006, he won his first major tournament, the Japan Professional Golf Championship.
In 2008, he achieved his long-awaited dream of winning the Chunichi Crowns in his hometown.
In 2014, he won his sixth tournament at the HEIWA PGM CHAMPIONSHIP, and his annual prize money exceeded 100 million yen for the first time.
He still had a chance of becoming the prize money leader until the final race and finished third in the prize money rankings.

On the final day of the 2022 Golf Partner PRO-AM, he shot a score of 59, becoming just the fifth player in tour history to shoot in the 50s.
The brand will sign a clothing contract with ZOY starting in 2022.
